Work Experience / Community Service / Professional Placement

Availability

  • Work Experience, Community Service and Industry Placements are in high demand across Whitehorse Manningham Libraries.
  • Approval is subject to meeting eligibility and operational requirements.
  • Work Experience placements are generally for one week during school term times
  • Community Service placements are for 1-2 hours per week during school term times
  • Placements are not available during school holidays or on weekends.
  • Placements are open to people in Year 10 and above.

APPLICATION DATES (Work Experience):
Work experience placement positions across Whitehorse Manningham Libraries are available for 2020.
Online applications using the Application for Work Experience form below will only be accepted from Monday 16 December 2019 until Thursday 30 April 2020 (unless all placements are filled prior to this date).
Please note that all work experience placements for JUNE 2020 have been filled.
Applications not meeting these terms will not be considered.


APPLICATION DATES (Community Service):
Community service placement positions across Whitehorse Manningham Libraries are available for 2020.
Online applications using the Application for Community Service form will only be accepted from Monday 16 December 2019 until Tuesday 30 June 2020 (unless all placements are filled prior to this date).


APPLICATION DATES (Industry Placements):
Industry placement positions across Whitehorse Manningham Libraries are available for 2020. Priority is given to students working towards a library studies qualification.


APPLICATIONS: Structured Workplace Learning
Structured Workplace Learning placements for secondary school students in Years 10 to 12 undertaking Vocational Education Training (VET) will be offered at Whitehorse Manningham Libraries in 2020.

Eligibility requirements for applicants

  • Students must be 15 years old or over for all types of placement, in Year 10 or above.
  • Work Experience placements are for secondary school students. Priority is given to students who live and attend school within the boundaries of the Cities of Whitehorse or Manningham.
  • Community Service placement is given to secondary school students as a component of school course work or an Award who live within the boundaries of the Cities of Manningham or Whitehorse.
  • Placements for tertiary students will only be considered where it is a course requirement of the relevant tertiary institution. Priority is given to students working towards a library studies qualification.
  • Applicants are required to attend an interview as part of the selection process.
  • A placement is not confirmed until the appropriate work experience or community service documentation has been provided to the Corporation by the school, community organisation or tertiary institution.
  • Students 18 years or older require a current Working With Children Check (Volunteer)
