Writers aged 18-25 years with disability from Whitehorse and/or Manningham are invited to attend our free Writeability Goes Local: Whitehorse Manningham Libraries Writers Group. The Writers Group is a series of free skills development workshops open to writers with all levels of experience. This is a facilitated writing group led by an experienced writing mentor, Jenny Hedley. Sessions will include a tutorial with a guest writer with disability and will make use of films and other resources from Writers Victoria’s Writeability Archive. The writing group will be held monthly from June to December 2023. The Writeability Goes Local: Whitehorse Manningham Libraries Writers Group is scheduled to run for eight sessions over the coming months. Writers with disability at all levels of experience are invited to attend. The introductory session – the Own Voices Forum – explores how language, writing and telling our own stories helps transform ways of thinking about the self, disability and community.
